Civic Leadership Development Program
The Civic Leadership Development Program (CLDP), funded through the France Merrick Foundation, supports a cohort of 12 full-time, undergraduate students to develop leadership skills to create a culture of Baltimore-based service and engagement for Hopkins undergraduates. Participants will gain leadership skills applicable to their current leadership roles and as developing members of the Baltimore City community.
Program Structure
Students who apply and are selected will receive a stipend of $1,200 that will be supplemented throughout the academic year.
Students in this program should be prepared to meet consistently throughout the semesters to;
- Participate in leadership development workshops
- Potentially engage with various leaders of the Baltimore communities
- Attend local community events and/or professional networking opportunities sponsored through the program
- Identify a project within the group and execute it with the support of the CSC
The 2024-2025 cohort executed a Community Health Resource Fair held at Ambrose Kennedy Park located in the Johnston Square neighborhood.Over 60 residents were able to connect with various local organizations addressing various health needs while also providing free fresh produce and meals. Activities also included face painting and moon bounce fun for the youth, who also learned about the resources available and were given fun kits to utilize on their own. Overall, it was a great experience for everyone!

To be considered for the cohort, students must meet the baseline requirements:
