Bryan Capers was born and raised in Bronx, New York, and currently serves as the Director for Student Transitions and Family Engagement. In this role, he leads strategic initiatives that support students and their families through key transition points, including orientation, family engagement, and first and second year experiences. Bryan is committed to designing mission aligned, student-centered programs that foster belonging, connection, and success from the moment students enter the institution through their continued development.

Bryan earned his bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Hampton University and later completed a year of national service with City Year in Baton Rouge and New Orleans, Louisiana. He went on to earn a master’s degree in Social Work from the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis, where he focused on Urban Education and Youth Development.

As a first-generation college graduate, Bryan brings both lived experience and professional expertise to his work. His career spans higher education, K–12, and nonprofit sectors, with a consistent focus on strengthening access and support systems equity, cultivating institutional partnerships, and ensuring that students and families feel informed, empowered, and affirmed in the spaces in which they occupy.

Outside of work, Bryan enjoys watching sporting events, singing, running, and spending quality time with his spouse and two golden retrievers.
