Get Creative at the New JHU Creative Media Center

Whether you’re a filmmaker, musician, designer, gamer, maker—or just curious and ready to experiment—the Creative Media Center is here to support your next project. Open to all Johns Hopkins students, the CMC is a resource-rich environment designed to empower creative expression across digital media, applied arts, and hands-on making. Located on the fourth floor of the brand-new Hopkins Student Center, the CMC is your creative headquarters for turning ideas into reality. 

Here’s what you’ll find inside: 

The CMC Hub (4th Floor, HSC) 

This is our central workspace and launching pad. 

The Hub is equipped with 15 high-performance Mac workstations loaded with professional creative software like Adobe Creative Cloud, Logic Pro, Blender, Maya, and Final Cut Pro. Working on a poster, art print, or portfolio? Our printing services include archival-quality inkjet printing from 4 x 6 inches up to 40×96 inches, with cutters and trimmers available to help finish the job. 

 The Maker Corner (4th Floor, HSC) 

At the CMC, you’ll also find the Maker Corner, a compact fabrication station featuring: 

• Two Bambu 3D printers, 

• Soldering tools, 

• Dremel tools, 

• A fume extractor, 

• And a full kit of small-scale tools for building, crafting, and electronics work.

The Fishbowl (a.k.a. our Equipment Library, 4th Floor, HSC) 

Check out tools and equipment—no experience needed. 

From professional photo and video cameras and portable recorders to sewing machines, microphones, MIDI controllers, green screens, lighting, and speakers, the Fishbowl houses over 500 creative kits ready to borrow. 

CMC Studios (3rd Floor, HSC) 

Find pecialized studios for specialized work. 

Need a quiet space to record a podcast? Want to stitch together your next cosplay look? CMC Studios offer purpose-built spaces for a wide range of media production: 

• Audio Studio: Equipped with industry-standard gear, reference monitors, and instruments—perfect for recording, mixing, or exploring sound. 

• Project Studio: A haven for textile and craft work, featuring sewing machines, a serger, embroidery tools, and a professional dress form. 

• Flex Studios: Adaptable, multi-use rooms that can be transformed to fit your unique creative setup. 

The Gaming Lounge (3rd Floor, HSC) 

Play, build community, and unwind. 

The CMC also manages the Homewood Student Center’s e-gaming space, featuring: 

• 10 high-performance gaming PCs, 

• A range of consoles (PlayStation, Steam-deck, Switch), 

• Streaming-ready displays and a comfy lounge environment. 

Whether you’re into casual play or competitive e-sports, the Gaming Lounge is a space to connect, relax, and game together.
